  • A system is an assembly of components connected together in a organised way.
  • The components are affected by being in the system and the behaviour of the system is changed if they leave it.
  • This organised assembly of components does something.
  • The assembly as a whole has been identified by someone who is interested in it.


Emergent Properties

Emergent properties are explained or managed as a property of the system under consideration.

Recognised System

A commonly recognised system i.e. the transport system.

System of Interest

A system that a systems practitioner has chosen to focus their interest on.
